Cider Apples

Asturias, in northern Spain, is famous for its rich cider tradition; a heritage that stretches back centuries. The region’s rolling hills, lush pastures, and temperate climate create the perfect environment for growing apples used in Sidra, the local cider. At our farm, we cultivate ecologically certified, DOP cider apples in collaboration with Sidra Fran in Lugones, ensuring that our apples are turned into high-quality, authentic Asturian cider.

Our apple orchards follow a two-year production cycle: one year the trees produce abundantly, and the next year they rest to regain strength. We carefully maintain each tree, plant new varieties, provide organic nutrients where needed, and prune annually to keep them healthy.

Our 50 sheep help maintain the grass under the trees using silvopasture techniques, while their manure naturally enriches the soil, creating a healthy ecosystem that benefits both the trees and the land.

We grow a variety of apple types, each with unique qualities, flavours, and cider potential. Below is an overview of our apple varieties and their characteristics:

  • Raxao
  • Durona
  • Xuanina
  • Regona
  • Verdialona
  • De La Riega
